Introduction: Guaiazulene is a blue crystalline or viscous liquid that changes from blue to green upon exposure to light, eventually turning yellow. It is insoluble in water, sparingly soluble in ethanol, but soluble in chloroform, ether, vegetable oils, and volatile oils.
Applications: Guaiazulene has anti-inflammatory properties and promotes granulation tissue regeneration. It can accelerate the healing of burns and scalds, and has heat-protective, radiation-protective, and anti-chapped effects. It is used to treat burns, scalds, chapped skin, frostbite, eczema, dermatitis, and to prevent high-temperature radiation.
