Introduction: Cefotaxime, white powder. Melting point 162-163℃ (decomposes). Easily soluble in water. Dilute solutions are colorless or slightly yellow, turning grayish-yellow at higher concentrations. It turns dark yellow or brown when deteriorated.
Applications: Cefotaxime is a semi-synthetic oxime cephalosporin, a third-generation cephalosporin. It is highly effective against Gram-negative bacteria, especially Enterobacteriaceae. It is mainly used for respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, biliary and intestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, burns, and bone and joint infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
