3-Chlorobenzaldehyde is a colorless or pale yellow transparent liquid. It has a melting point of 17-18℃, a boiling point of 213-214℃, a boiling point of 55℃ (0.133 kPa), a relative density of 1.2410 (20/4℃), and a refractive index of 1.5650. It is soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene, and acetone, and slightly soluble in water.3-Chlorobenzaldehyde is chemically reactive and is easily oxidized by air into benzoic acid when left in the air for a long time, thus deteriorating (undeteriorated 3-chlorobenzaldehyde is a colorless liquid; if a white solid is observed in the bottle, it has been oxidized into benzoic acid). Therefore, it needs to be stored in a sealed container away from oxidants in a low-temperature and dry environment.

3-Chlorobenzaldehyde is used as an intermediate in pesticides, pharmaceuticals, dyes, and specialty chemicals.
