It belongs to the subphylum Basidiomycota, class Hymenomycetes, order Polyporales, family Polyporaceae, and genus Phelliunus. It primarily parasitizes the trunks of broad-leaved trees such as mulberry, birch, and poplar, and is known as "forest gold." Current research indicates that Sanghuang contains over a hundred different chemical substances, most of which possess pharmacological activity and can treat various diseases, showing promising application and development prospects. MORIN, a polyphenol compound, can be used as a natural pigment and possesses excellent antioxidant, free radical scavenging, anti-tumor, and hypoglycemic medicinal effects, making it highly valuable.
