Introduction: n-Hexane, with the molecular formula C6H14 and a molecular weight of 86.2, is a straight-chain saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon obtained from crude oil cracking and fractionation. It is a colorless, volatile liquid with a gasoline-like odor, a melting point (MPa) of 95°C, a boiling point of 68.95°C, and a vapor density of 2.97 (air=1). It is almost insoluble in water but readily soluble in chloroform, ether, and ethanol. n-Hexane is an organic solvent.
Applications: Heptane is a typical nonpolar solvent, commonly used as a standard for determining octane numbers, an anesthetic, and a raw material for organic synthesis. It also has wide applications in the pharmaceutical, pesticide, rubber synthesis, chemical fiber synthesis, reagent, and electronic cleaning industries. n-Octane is used as a solvent and a standard substance for chromatographic analysis, and is also used in organic synthesis. With the rapid development of the chemical, pharmaceutical, and electronics industries, my country's demand for n-heptane will increase year by year, especially high-purity n-heptane, which has a broad market prospect.
